The Hall

The Hall is decorated to a high standard.  All the walls, roof and floor are well insulated.  The Hall has a capacity of 110, but it is recommended a max of 100 for sit-down meals (80 if using the stage).  There are 100 chairs available and approx 20 tables.

The Hall uses low energy strip lighting, and has two central lights which can be dimmed.

Heating is by thermostatically controlled wall heaters which are on a one Hour timer.  Additionally, four plug in heaters are available if required.

The floor is laminate, and was renewed a few years ago to a very high standard.  As our Short Mat Bowls Club will testify, it is very flat.

There is also a Committee/Changing Room. - commonly used for small meetings, or changing rooms. (This room can be locked - the code is on the Hall Key set.)

Video Equipment

The Hall has a very high specification built-in video system, with six speaker surround sound audio system.  The three meter wide retractable screen, provides an excellent picture. Curtains and black-out blinds are fitted.

It is also possible to connect a laptop computer, video camera and Wii equipment to the system, to show on the big screen (note this will demand some preliminary set up).

While the use of the screen is available for all Hirer's, the Video equipment must be operated by an experienced technician, from the Management Committee.

TV - our system is also equipped to show terrestrial TV programmes, and holds the appropriate license.  Please note there are limitations placed on Hirers to show TV programmes.

Stage

We have a portable stage which can be erected if required.  The overall size is approx 24x8 feet, made up of six 4x4 sections which can be set up in alternative configurations. (Please note, the stage needs to be set up the day before, and broken down the day after an event, and may add 3 hours to the hire period.)

Disabled facilities

As there are steps to the Main Entrance, disabled persons are encouraged to enter/leave the Hall via the Ripple end access. This is suitable for wheelchairs, although the access from the road is slightly inclined.  Separate lighting is available at night.  There is a door bell to ring, to alert those inside the Hall to open the doors.

The Hall has a disabled toilet, with an alarm.  Access to the Kitchen and Committee rooms has a slight step.

A Hearing Loop is available for Film Shows, on request.

Miscellaneous

The Hall has toilet facilities for Ladies, Gents and Disabled.

The Hall has a Firm Alarm system with smoke detectors.  If the Alarm sounds, please evacuate to the Car Park (Fire Assembly Point), and ring 999 for Fire Service.

External Security Cameras monitor external movements and have infra red for night vision.

The Management Committee employ a Cleaner who regularly cleans the Hall and Toilets.  Hirers are expected to ensure the Hall is left in a clean and tidy state on departure.  Waste should be removed; there is a dustbin at the rear of the Hall.  A separate container is provided in the kitchen for recycling; we ask Hirers to take all Recycling materials away please.  (Containers for recycling bottles are placed at the Ripple end of the Car Park.)

A Car Park, for the use of Hirers is sited opposite to the Hall.  We ask all Users to park responsibly, and to take care when crossing the road.  (Note, for very large events, please ask a Committee Member regarding additional Car Parking).

External lighting covers the access and emergency doors and associated paths. Lights also cover the Car Park in the vicinity of the Hall.  Note, when leaving the Hall in darkness, by pressing the light button in the vestibule, the external lights will remain on for approx 3 minutes to allow the safe return to the car park.

Telephone - there is no telephone land line at the Hall; mobile reception is good.

Wifi - The Hall does not have Wifi.

Accidents - must be recorded in the Accident book held on the Wall in the kitchen, and reported to a Committee Member.  A First Aid Kit is available in the kitchen.
