In appreciation of many years of support for Ripple Parish Hall, the Management Committee presented Sue and Paul Matthews with a cut glass decanter and glasses.
As retiring tenants of the Railway Inn, they have been great supporters of the local Community. In particular, five years ago they agreed to host a book loan scheme, where drinkers could borrow or buy a second hand book for a nominal fee. This, together with coffee mornings etc, has raised well over £2,000 for the Parish Hall. In addition they have also provided raffle prizes, and Sue's famous pies for our parties.
They will continue to live in the village, but are setting up new businesses. Paul is establishing a new painting and decorating business, while Sue is providing domestic services, such as cleaning, ironing etc. (Their contact number is 07557 309345.)
John Bennett, commented "Sue and Paul's commitment to the Village Community will be sadly missed, but we are pleased they are staying amongst their many friends and ex-customers in the Parish. I am sure some of which will become customers of their new ventures. We wish them every success."
The Committee would like to say a huge thank you to Sue, Val and Paul at The Railway Inn, Ripple, for their continued support.
Books & CDs
The photo shows Sue presenting a cheque to John Bennett, Chairman of Ripple Parish Hall Committee, for £1,036.90 in May 2013. This represents funds raised over two years through a book loan scheme and a coffee morning.
In addition to books, CDs are now also available.
